The Old is New Again…
Many of you may have noticed that our website (www.jefferspet.com) has regained a certain familiarity.
Ah, the best laid plans…
So, sometimes, the best intentions, the greatest plans, simply don’t work out. We started with the goal of making the best site possible. We spent months planning, researching, and brain-storming. We discussed what the new site should look like, what the “old” site had that we needed to keep and what new functions and benefits we could add. We talked about suggestions customers had offered. We talked about which websites we liked and why. We truly set out with visions of grandeur and, perhaps, an unreasonable expectation of pleasing everyone.
Of course, you can never please everyone but we had high hopes and high expectations.
MISTAKES
Everybody makes mistakes. Someone once said, “if you aren’t making mistakes, you aren’t trying hard enough”. One of our first and possibly biggest mistakes was trying to hurry. We had a plan but at some point, we were behind schedule. We wanted the new site up before the holidays and especially before our hugely successful and highly anticipated “12 Days of Christmas” Sale. We launched 15 days after our original target date and just 13 days before the sale. It was the wrong choice. The site had flaws and we didn’t have time to solve them - so we patched here and stuck a Band-Aid® there and struggled through the holidays.
We have tried non-stop to solve all of the issues, large and small. We have heard the complaints and the compliments. As much as we love the new look and the great benefits we intended, the bottom line is, the site is not much closer to being right than it was a month ago.
The Old is New Again
After much soul-searching and with heavy hearts, we have turned back the clock. We have returned to the old JeffersPet.com. There will be some who are inconvenienced but we believe, in the grand scheme of things, fewer will be inconvenienced by the return than by continued struggling with the new.
We have not given up and we ask that you don’t count us out. Our customers are our most important asset. Without the customer, we serve no purpose and we would cease to exist, so it is back to the drawing boards, as they say. We want to be sure that the next time and every time that you come to jefferspet.com, that the experience is as simple and as pleasurable and rewarding as possible.
Over the last 33+ years, we have set the bar high in customer satisfaction and we intend to measure up. If our zeal and over-eagerness has caused anyone an inconvenience, we apologize. If our switching back to the old familiar site causes anyone an inconvenience, we also apologize for that. Trust that, as always, we have you in mind. We always strive to serve you better.
WHAT’S NEXT
The ultimate goal and endgame has not changed. We want what is best for you. We have read every word of every e-mail, snail-mail and phone message you have left. With that and a trove of information gleaned from this experience, we will, once again, revisit, regroup, reconnoiter and redesign. When we make another change, we will draw from this experience. We will learn from mistakes made.
Thank you for making us the largest, family-owned, customer-driven, pet and large animal site.
